[brlug-general] dist-upgrade is the way to go.

apt-get dist-upgrade blew all of those problems away.
Another nice fix is the AMD init ramfs problem. I had this problem few months
ago. It required a reinstall if you tried to install an AMD kernel upgrade.
That's gone and I now have a nice shiny k7 kernel that can see the extra gig
of RAM I bought the day I replaced the stock 486 kernel.
