I don't think they will ever learn. Recall the BetaMax case, Sony vs.
Universal Studios (1984). Where Universal and its MPAA buddies tried to
outlaw a device Sony was making called the VCR, since of course everyone
would steal their content! Well they lost, and we all got VCRs.
Then what happened? The video rental industry was born, and soon turned
into a multi-gazillion dollar industry. And they still make boatloads of
money from video rentals. *Someone*, at least ONE person at the MPAA has
to be thinking, man i'm glad we lost the Betamax case. Apparently not
though, since 23 years later they're still pulling the same crap. Sigh.
