fc6 does have user switching if you use kde.
It works on my system and many users suggest kde is closer to the look and function of windows than other managers.

Also I tried both suggestions for gnome; adding the switch user button and switching with the "startx -- :1 > x.txt, these both worked very well on my dell laptop. (good suggestions) if they are not working for you there may be some other problem affecting your system.

Maybe you just don't have the option visible.  Take a look at
