[brlug-general] Is OpenOffice just "good enough"?

Is that some kind of cruel joke, Karthik? I used to love Outlook at Entergy,
but safe and secure it was not! Corruption of that file happened so often
that people there kept their "important" and current work on floppies.

All of those features have been reproduced by KDE with atomized file storage
that seems much better, if not space efficient. They use maildir, mbox and
imap for mail, ics and friends for calendars, and vcf and friends for contact
information. You can add as many calendars and card file collections as you
want from anywhere you want and can then turn them on and off with a
checkbox. The collection of smaller files can easily be backed up with a
tool like rsync, which provides real peace of mind.

With GNU/Linux and parallels, I can chose between Kontact, Evolution and older
versions of Outlook.
