I don't have a bike anymore and it's been a long time since I've been to
BestBuy. I tried to get a music player from them but never found something
there that works the way I wanted: usb mass transfer and ogg play.
Having been a five frank an hour clerk, I know that it's pointless and
counterproductive to be rude to clerks. First, I ask if they have a Linux
expert on staff. They don't. Then, I ask politely if I can try things out
before I buy them. BestBuy says no, so I get to stand in line twice. I buy
it and try the device out in my van. If it does not work, I get my money
back. I politely tell them that "I'm a Linux user and it did not work for
me." They usually give me my money back. I'm only willing to repeat this
long process twice in one day. It's poor service, but that's not the clerk's
fault. They are tools who must do as they are told. Management is just as
rude to them as they are to the customer.
Local stores are much friendlier and I prefer to shop there. Eventually, I
found TrekStor online and got one of their players which works OK. One day,
I might buy an old ipod from ebay and put rockbox on it.
I never did master the backflip onto the motorbike. The cartoon's kung fu is
stronger than mine.
