I thought the same thing until I actually saw a Kindle a while back. It really feels like you are reading a book.

Man you just hit on my biggest hangup about the iPad... I travel a lot and read a lot and I want an eBook reader, but a backlit display drives me nuts and makes my eyes hurt.

I personally can't stand "digital" magazines that are basically a PDF version of a real magazine that never gets printed. If it's not on paper, and it's more than a couple pages, I won't read it. The exception is e-Books with a decent eInk reader. I'm sure the day is coming that I'll have some sort of "tablet" or "pad" that easily retrieves the publications I want so I can read them when, where, and how I want them, but it's not here yet.
