I met this past Saturday with the club Education Committee and beginning with June 5th at 6 PM in the computer lab, we will be adding an addtional monthly workshop to the SIG schedule. So, the workshops will be on the 1st and the 3rd Monday of each month, at 6 PM, in the computer lab. Hopefully this will help everyone come up to speed faster and will also allow us to expand the size of the SIG by decreasing the time of the workshop cycle from 6 months to three months and doing 4 InstallFests per year.
If there is a particular area that you have an interest in and are willing to facilitate a workshop associated with that area, please let us know. We need some more workshop facilitators.
Also, Russ and Mark are working on solving the dual boot problem with the lab computers. We are evaluating several options including possibly putting a removable drive bay in each lab computer with a separate hard drive for the Linux installation. I will update everyone as more information comes available.
We also discussed setting up workshops for many of the open source cross platform programs like The Gimps, Audacity, Inkscape, Firefox, Thunderbird, Blender, and Open Office, to name a few.
