Greetings all,

Since our last SIG was an InstallFest and we have a number of brand new SIG
members, our next Linux Desktop SIG workshop will be "Navigating the Linux
Desktop".

Topics that will be covered will include:

The KDE Control Center
        System Administration
                Peripheral Devices
                        Printers
                        Mouse
        Display Management
                Backgrounds
                Themes
                Screen Savers
                Styles
                Panel
                Taksbar

AND

Package Management (How to install Linux programs the Point 'N' Click way)

What is Package Management
                RPM vs. Debian
        Xandros Networks
                What it does
                News
                Shop
                New Applications
                Installed Applications
                Setting Application Sources
                Searching for an Application
                Installing an Application
                Installing Multiple Applications

And maybe some other stuff too. Be sure and go to the Clickers web site and
register for the workshop as it will be a hands-on workshop and we only have
so many computers available in the lab. Anyone with a laptop that has
wireless connectivity is encouraged to bring those as well.

As usual, the first 15 minutes will be a question and answer session. So if
you have some questions, please bring them. You can also post them to the SIG
mail list or the BRLUG Newbies list and we will try and dig up some answers
for you before the workshop.

We have some other exciting things that we are working on with details to
follow soon.

See everyone at 6 PM in the Lab on Monday, September 18th.

Ed
