Many Thank Tim,
As soon as I can burn the MP3's I have to CD's, I'm going to reformat both the 40 gig
and 80 gig Maxtor HD's and start over with clean installs.
The 80 gig, I decided, will get the Fedora 6. This hopefully will allow me to start over
on my MP3 collection, with the proper P-2-P program.....Limewire isn't it. I had nothing
but trouble getting it to work with Xandros. It crashed or hung the computer up all the
time. :-(
On the WIN 2k side, I had about 20 gigs of MP3's, but could not get any "burner" prog,
including WIN Media Player 9 to work.
The MP3's will be for MY listening enjoyment ONLY. I'm not going to make 'pirate CD's'
even for my grandson, LOL! I don't listen to his kind of music anyway.
Once I get Fedora 6 started on the install, I'll pay closer attention to what it says and
see if I can see what you said about "adding/removing" the packages and what each
does. One thing that will help is to read through that Fedora 6 "Bible" and see if it
explains it better. I know I'll need a print server (I think) as I will want to print out my
scanner & ham contact databases. But, as far as the rest...Samba, Apache, etc. I'm
not really sure. At present, I'm on HellSouth, LOL! They won't let me set up a web
server of any kind, as I am on their sorry DSL and at the end of the CO. :-(
The 40 gig HD will become an WIN XP drive for my 13 year old grandson for him to to
school homework, research papers and play games. I may also put AOL on there for
him to chat, but only in Kid's AOL Rooms......NO MYSPACE or YouTube.....Numa Numa,
LOL!
I'll keep y' all posted as to my "progress".
Again, thanks for the help.
Respectfully,
Donald
