Greetings all,
The next workshop will be held on Monday, January 15, 2007 in the club lab. In this workshop, we will learn how to use Amarok/Xandros Music Manager. From the Amarok web site: "Amarok is THE music player for Linux and Unix with an intuitive interface. Amarok makes playing the music you love easier than ever before - and looks good doing it."
I have been playing with Amarok rather intensely for the last week and the more I learn about it, the more impressed I am with it. Amarok is to music and podcasts what SageTV is to television and DVD's. I am in the process of ripping my entire CD collection to a 320 gig hard drive and will be letting Amarok manage it. In this workshop we will learn how to rip CD's, build our music library, create playlists, smart playlists and dynamic playlists, download album covers and song lyrics, stream radio stations and download and listen to podcasts, and much more. If you are not familiar with it, podcasting is the latest rage on the Internet. Anyone with a decent Internet connection, a computer and a microphone, can create his/her own radio station/podcast. There are podcasts out there on literally any subject that one can imagine, and even some that are quite unimaginable. We will explore some of the more worthwhile ones that deal with Linux.
See everyone at 6 PM,
Ed
