[brlug-newbies] Home network with Bellsouth

Glad to hear it. I had a rather embarrassing incident with the
Bellsouth tech when I switched in January... See, I didn't understand
the purpose of a DSL line filter. Apparently, it filters out the DSL
noise for the phones, but I had it backwards, thinking it filtered out
voice for the DSL line. Once I got that, the reason I couldn't connect
became obvious. So I asked the tech to hold on while I swapped the
filter to the other line. When I came back to the phone, I had a dial
tone.

Note to self: Don't unplug the phone when you're on it.
