Greetings all,

The next Linux Desktop SIG workshop will be held on Monday, April 2nd at 6 PM in the Clickers' Computer Lab. This workshop will be a final planning session for the upcoming "Linux Day" that will be held on Saturday, April 14th. For Linux Day, we need people that can: 1) greet guests, both Clicker's and non-Clicker's members, as they arrive at the club offices, 2) assist those that wish to join the club in signing up, 3) walk around taking pictures, and 4) coach potential new Linux users as they "test drive" Linux on the desktop. We also need folks that can help Friday afternoon, April 13th with getting everything set up. In the upcoming workshop, we will discuss the following:

* Xandros on the Lab computers
* Mission specific machines/distros, i.e. should we have machines set up specifically for:
o Gaming
o Multimedia
o Web Surfing
o Small Office/Home Office (SOHO)
o Audio Production
o Video Producion
o Virtualization
o Windows Emulation
o Graphics
o Eye candy - Compiz & Beryl
* Door Prizes - I have 2 copies of Xandros Professional Box Set and 9 copies of Xandros Home Edition that we can use as door prizes. I want to hear your thoughts in this regard
* Promotion of Linux Day
* Ideas concerning the next InstallFest. We need to move quickly after the Linux Day function to capitalize on the new users excitement
* Ideas concerning moving the SIG forward.
*Ideas on burning and labeling give away CD's/DVD's.

This may be the most important workshop that we have done to date so please make a special effort to be there and to participate in the discussions and in Linux Day.

See everyone Monday evening.

Ed
