have patience, Ubuntu only just added support for the G3010 with the latest release 8.10.
you could have support for the G3110 soon.
to speed up the process, send info about your unsupported scanner to SANE at:
http://www.sane-project.org/contrib.html
until then you may have to use windows in its own partition or virtualbox.

I just bought a new hp scanner (without doing any research).  I thought most any
hp would work.  I got a Scanjet G3110 for scanning slides and photos.

I tried everything I could think of to do, but I can't get the computer to
see the scanner.  I looked at the /etc/scan.d/conf files and tried to enter my
scanner in them but this hasn't helped.

Does any have and ideas they would be willing to share.
