Greetings all,
I apologize for sending this out late, but I have been flying low and dodging
trees lately, between work and getting ready for our general membership
meeting presentation, I just forget about it.
The next Linux SIG workshop will be on Monday, Feb 4th in the Linux Lab.
During this workshop, we will be installing a FireWire card into the new
instructor's machine and investigating how to move video files from a video
camera to the computer. After the file is successfully moved to the computer,
we will look at tools to edit the video and then how to create a DVD playable
on a "set top" DVD player.
Also, as most of you are aware, the Linux SIG inherited 10 computers that were
formerally in the Windows Lab, along with most of the tables out of the
Windows lab too. Thanks to the hard work of MANY of the SIG members, we were
able to break down the Linux Lab on Saturday, January 26th and install the
inherited tables and computers. We now have a Linux Lab that is equipped with
very capable and fast computers. Will and I got both Xandros and PCLinuxOS
installed on two of the 10 computers. We need to install these OS'es on the
remaining 8 machines. I will have disks for both with me and would like to
have some volunteers that will help with the installation while the video
workshop is ongoing.
See everyone tomorrow evening,
Ed
